ECOWAS Suspends Guinea Over Military Coup


The sitting chair of the Economic Community Of West African States (ECOWAS) and the President of the republic of Ghana H.E Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo at a Virtual ECOWAS meeting has announced the suspension of Guinea from the community.

According to the leadership of ECOWAS it can not still tolerate the membership of Guinea due to its current state of government being by mi rule while ECOWAS requires that all members should be under Democratic rule.

This suspension is as a result of the current military Coup in Guinea where the President H. E Alpha Conde has been overthrown.

Few hours the news broke out on the Coup situation in Guinea, the ECOWAS chairperson came out to give a directive that the people responsible for the coup should ensure that Guinea returns to democratic rule within the shortest possible time but his directive was not complied to.

Earlier yesterday, the leaders of the coup and the special forces of Guinea took President Alpha Conde out from hostage and took him across the street to see the reaction of people towards his overthrown.

They later proceeded to arrest all the ministers and members of state under the government of President Alpha Conde and all the led to the decision by ECOWAS to suspend the membership of Guinea.
