The Basic Education Certificate Examination (B.E.C.E) is an initiative of the West African Examinations Council ( WAEC) that has been in existence for a while now and aids in accessing the academic performance of Junior High school candidates in order to ease their entry into the Secondary education cycle.
In this year’s examination, TV 3 Ghana reported a news article on 47 year-old Mr. Obed Akusiake who also sat for the exam.
Mr. Obed Akusiake was among the over 571,000 pupils who sat for the 2021 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
Speaking on TV, Mr. Obed disclosed he is a father of ten with his children spread across almost all stages of the education lader.
According to him, he has some of his children in the Kindergarten stage, some in the lower and upper primary while the rest were still in Junior and Senior High school.
He stated that the world is fast developing into a global village and without education you are left behind so this influenced his decision to start school at age 47.
He also spoke on his intentions to proceed into a technical/vocational training school on the arrival of the examination results.
